Clare Walter
Clare Walter is a lecturer in Human Sciences and Health Geography at the University of Melbourne and undertakes research and policy work with Melbourne Climate Futures and Deakin University. She holds a cross-disciplinary PhD in Public Health and Policy that examined the health impacts of air pollution in Australia and how evidence can inform policy and mitigation strategies. Clare’s background as a clinical pharmacist, including work in lung cancer clinics at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, shaped her interest in population exposure to pollution and its links to disease. Her current work spans environmental health, health service planning, and public policy analysis, with a focus on translating research into practical interventions. She has experience across clinical, academic, and public health sectors, and is particularly engaged in evaluating models of care, analysing health and demographic data, and supporting public health advocacy.
