Richard Hopkins
‘A British native with almost 30 year’s experience in Formula One based in the UK. Richard relocated to Australia in 2016.
Prior to Richard immigrating to Australia, he was the Head of Operations for the Red Bull Formula One Team. Richard played a pivotal role in changing the team’s fortunes from having never won a Grand Prix, to turning them into a consecutive World Championship-winning team.
Richard started working in F1 at the age of 16 in 1987 and spent a total of 28 years working alongside world-leading technology and some of the world’s best engineers, innovators, and some incredible racing drivers. The knowledge and experience he gained along the way is now being used in his next chapter.
Now a Professor of Practice at UNSW Sydney running the world renowned Sunswift Racing prototype EV project that’s the current Guinness World record holder for the fastest EV over 1000km single charge.
Richard is also High Performance Adviser for the Walkinshaw Andretti United Australian Supercar team.
