Professor Damien Giurco is Associate Director Research at the UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures – home to 150 staff and students who partner with government, industry and the community to create change towards sustainable futures through transdisciplinary research. Damien’s work builds evidence, policies and practices regarding the material requirements for a net-zero circular economy. Currently he coordinates UTS involvement in the NSW Decarbonisation Innovation Hub, was foundation partner in the Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence and is a director of Climate-KIC Australia. He leads research in the Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre on responsible sourcing of battery minerals and is the circular economy program lead in the Solving Plastics Waste Cooperative Research Centre.
