Heidi Lee Douglas

CEO, Solar Citizens

Heidi Lee Douglas is the CEO of Solar Citizens, working at the forefront of Australia’s clean energy transition and the growing global movement for consumer-led clean energy. She has led campaigns securing national home battery incentives, stronger vehicle efficiency standards, and expanded access to rooftop solar for social housing. Her work has contributed to Australia becoming a world leader in rooftop solar and the rollout of home batteries.

Internationally, Heidi is working with partners on a global campaign to scale rooftop solar to 300 million homes by 2030, with a particular focus on building strong, locally led consumer movements. She recently helped establish a new prosumer alliance in Pakistan, bringing together organisations working to ensure the country’s rapid rooftop solar transition delivers for everyday people.

Heidi believes rooftop solar and batteries are more than climate solutions, they are part of a broader shift in economic and political power. When households and communities can generate and store their own energy, reliance on fossil fuels declines, energy security strengthens, and more of the benefits of the energy transition stay with households and local communities.

Heidi is also Deputy Mayor of Bayside Council in Sydney and an award-winning filmmaker. Her sweet spot is bringing together storytelling, policy and grassroots mobilisation to accelerate the transition to cleaner, cheaper energy and a more democratised energy system.
