Chris Jones

Dr Chris Jones is the president of the Australian Electric Vehicle Association - the world's oldest, continuously-running electromobility society, and Australia's primary EV consumer group. Chris is a chemist and plant scientist who switched careers over a decade ago to focus on transport sustainability issues. He joined the AEVA in 2010 when building his first electric motorcycle, and has been an active volunteer at the association ever since. Well versed in battery technology, EV design and construction, and transport sustainability policy dilettante, Chris serves on AEVA's policy advocacy working group, which guides AEVA's priorities when pushing for change. For his day job, Chris teaches in applied engineering at South Metropolitan TAFE Western Australia where he challenges his students to appreciate the complexity, challenges and incredible opportunities in the energy sector. Chris is a keen supporter of the Avoid - Shift - Improve hierarchy of transport sustainability, and sees electric buses, trains and trams, along with two-wheeled EVs, as the future for Australia's cities.
